Abla Mohammed al-Kahlawi

Abla Mohammed al-Kahlawi ( Arabic عبلة محمد الكحلاوي, DMG ʿAbla Muḥammad al-Kaḥlāwī ; * 1948 ) is dean of the faculty for Islamic and Arabic Studies at the women's college at al-Azhar University in Port Said , Egypt .

According to Islam scholar Noha Abdel-Hady , the scholar stands for a reform-oriented Islam.

In 2009 she was listed on the list of the 500 Most Influential Muslims by the Prince al-Walid-bin-Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center of Jordan.

She was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).

She is the daughter of the Egyptian actor Mohammed Kahlawi (1912–1982).
