Flattening machine
A Abplattmaschine is a machine for planing of flattening , the bevels on the edges of fillings of doors or wall coverings.
A knife shaft is mounted between two work tables in the machine table. A guide stop and a guide bracket are attached to the tables. The width of the flattening is set by adjusting the height of the tables, the guides can be adapted to the workpiece thickness. The feed is done by hand, all four edges are planed on one or both sides.
The basic structure of the flattening machine resembles a planer . In the 19th century it was used in carpentry shops, but now flattening is made with milling machines or machining centers .
