Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois is a presidential library that emerged from the Illinois State Historical Library , founded in 1889 . It is operated by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and is owned by the US state of Illinois . The new facilities opened on April 16, 2005.

In addition to materials on President Abraham Lincoln , the library contains more than twelve million documents, books, and items related to the history of Illinois, including the state collections of Illinois history, the American Civil War, and the Henry Horner Lincoln Collection . The library is heavily used for genealogical research. In the museum part of the library, individual sections of the White House from Lincoln's time have been recreated.

Parts of the set, costumes and props from Steven Spielberg's award-winning film Lincoln (2012) have been on view at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum since early 2014 .
