International business

On May 2, 2008, Absa was the first foreign bank to be approved by the Bank of Namibia under the name Absa Bank Namibia . Due to the global economic crisis, however, the start of business was repeatedly postponed. On November 10th, 2009 the first branch opened in Windhoek . This initially works exclusively for major customers; the establishment of a branch network and the expansion of services to private customers is planned for the long term, but was rejected by the Bank of Namibia in early July 2010.
