Stake out

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term stake out is a sociolectal expression from the red light district . It refers to an amount of money that a pimp has to pay to another pimp as compensation if a prostitute belonging to his business cycle changes to another pimp. The height of the stake is based on the estimated amount of revenue lost by the previous pimp by relinquishing economic control over the prostitute to another pimp. Paying a stake is an indication of the existence of the criminal offense of "dirigistic pimping" according to Section 181a Paragraph 1 No. 2 StGB .
