Badge "For good performance in rebuilding Berlin"

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The badge “For good achievements in the reconstruction of Berlin” was an award of the Free German Youth of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the 1950s for excellent achievements of the youth on the major construction sites of Berlin for the purpose of reconstruction. The 37 mm high round gold-plated badge shows in the middle two newly built high-rise buildings in socialist classicism with the two-line inscription below: FOR GOOD PERFORMANCE / IN THE REBUILDING OF BERLIN . This symbolism is surrounded by a laurel wreath, which is broken on its lower side by the FDJ symbol and on its upper side by a German flag. In the red field of the flag you can read the inscription: OUR BERLIN VORAN IN NEW COURSE .
