The badge of the participants in the peace meeting of German youth in Berlin was an award of the Free German Youth (FDJ) in the Soviet zone of occupation . The badge was awarded to all FDJ youth delegations at the peace meeting of the FDJ on September 24th and 25th, 1949 in Berlin .

Appearance and wearing style

The badge has the shape of a gold medal with a diameter of 40 mm and shows a dove of peace on a fragment of a column in the center of its obverse . Below these is the two-line inscription: 25 SEPTEMBER / 1949 . This symbolism is surrounded by the inscription: PEACE MEETING OF GERMAN YOUTH IN THE CAPITAL OF GERMANY . The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows in the middle the portrait of the Berlin radio tower , the Brandenburg Gate , the Berlin Cathedral and the Red City Hall in front of symbolized rays of the sun. The inscription FDJ is emblazoned above the symbols and the name BERLIN below . The whole thing is enclosed with the semicircular inscription: NEVER ANVIL ALWAYS HAMMER . The badge was worn on a leather cord or made of hand-rolled ribbons in the colors black-red-gold.
