Acacius of Beroea
Acacius von Beröa (also Akakios) (* around 322; † between 432 and 437) was bishop of Beröa in Syria in the fourth and fifth centuries .
Not much is known about his youth. As a young man he lived in the monastery of Gindanus near Antioch near Antioch. In 377 he was sent to Rome to speak to Pope Damasus I against Apollinarism . When Eusebius of Samosata returned from exile in 378, he consecrated Acacius as Bishop of Berea in Syria (now Aleppo ). He took part as bishop at the first council of Constantinople (381).
