The Académie de Berlin was founded in Berlin in June 2006 with the aim of promoting intellectual exchange and dialogue between France and Germany in the areas of language and culture.

The Academy has 20 members, Honorary President was Richard von Weizsacker , Secrétaire perpétuel is Ulrich Wickert . In 2012, the French ambassador to Germany, Maurice Gourdault-Montagne , was the patron of the Académie.

The Académie has been awarding a culture and literature prize since 2008.

Other activities

The members of the Académie meet twice a year. They also award scholarships that are funded by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation FVS .
