Academia Filipina de la Lengua Española

The Academia Filipina de la Lengua Española ( German Filipino Academy of the Spanish Language ) is the most important academy for the preservation of the Spanish language in the Philippines .

Its headquarters are in Makati City . The academy was formed by a group of scholars, teachers, philologists, journalists and writers and belongs to the Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española (Association of Spanish Language Academies). The academy was founded on July 25, 1924 . Its founders and main drivers were the novelist and short story writer Guillermo Gómez Windham, the polygraph Jesús Balmori and the poet and essayist Fernando Maria Guerrero , known as the "Prince of Filipino Poets", founder of the Filipino daily newspaper in Spanish El Renacimiento .
