Alberto Romulo
Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo (born August 7, 1933 in Camiling , Tarlac Province ) is a Filipino politician and was Foreign Minister between 2004 and 2011.
biography
Romulo is a nephew of long-time Foreign Minister Carlos P. Rómulo and cousin of the Foreign Minister between 1992 and 1995, Roberto Romulo .
In 1987 he became a member of the Senate and was a member of it until 1998. From 1992 to 1996 he was the majority leader in the Senate's majority parliamentary group.
Immediately after President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's oath of office , he was appointed Finance Minister on January 20, 2001 . After only four months in office, however, he was replaced in this position on May 16, 2001 by José Isidro Camacho .
On August 18, 2004, he was finally appointed as the successor to Delia Domingo-Albert as the new Foreign Minister and held this office until February 2011. He is a member of the board of directors of the Academia Filipina de la Lengua Española , the most important academy for the preservation of the Spanish language in the Philippines.
