Acetyl peroxy group

The acetylperoxy group , abbreviated AcOO or OOAc, is a functional group that is derived from peracetic acid (see figure). It differs from the acetyl group CH 3 -C (= O) - (Ac) in that it has two additional oxygen atoms .

The acetyl peroxy group should not be confused with the acetoxy group (OAc), the acetyl group (Ac), and the acyl group . The acetylperoxy radical (acetperoxy group), C 2 H 3 O 3 , contains one more oxygen atom than the acetoxy radical, C 2 H 3 O 2 .
