description

Achatinella spaldingi reached a case length of 16.5 mm and a case diameter of 11.1 mm. The mouth was 9.2 mm long. There were 5½ turns. The case was left-wound, imperforate, egg-shaped, conical, bulbous, and quite thin. The color of the case was white with slightly broken or dotted light brown bands and lines, the second band of which ran above the edge area. Usually a number of ribbons were placed near the spindle and there was a space with no ribbons at and below the edge area. The seam was outlined with a white line. The top was a little dark. The surface was not very shiny and somewhat roughened with growth folds and irregularly scattered impressions. In older cases it was often blunt. The arched turns were connected by an indented seam. The mouth was white. The thin outer lip was pointed and not enlarged. The white spindle fold was small and twisted.
