Achim Wohlgethan (* 1966 in Wolfsburg ) is a former soldier in the German Bundeswehr and the author of several books.

Life

After graduating from high school , he did his basic military service with the Panzer Grenadier Troops. He then completed civilian training as a helicopter pilot and returned to the Bundeswehr in 1995 as a regular soldier . He served in the paratrooper battalion 314 in Oldenburg . In 2002 and 2003 he was stationed for six months in Afghanistan (2002 in Kabul , 2003 in Kunduz ) as a staff sergeant as part of the German participation in the ISAF mission .

Together with his co-author Dirk Schulze , a former Bundeswehr press officer , he processed the impressions he had gained during the first mission in Afghanistan into a documentary report that was published in January 2008 under the title Kabul End Station . The Bundeswehr rejected the criticism he published there that there had been operations outside of the mandate area. In their statement it was said that a simple staff sergeant often does not have the necessary overview of all matters. He currently lives in Wolfsburg as a freelance writer and security advisor.
