Acoreus

Acoreus was likely an Alexandrian scholar and astronomer .

There is a possibility that he introduced Gaius Julius Caesar to the Egyptian calendar and convinced him of its advantages over the Roman lunar calendar . Caesar commissioned a commission in Rome under the direction of Sosigenes from Alexandria to calculate and reform the Roman calendar accordingly .
