Acta Physiologica , abbreviated Acta Physiol. , is a scientific journal founded in 1889 under the name Scandinavian Archives for Physiology . In 1940 the name was changed to Acta Physiologica Scandinavica and shortened to the current name in 2005. The journal is published by Wiley-Blackwell-Verlag on behalf of the Scandinavian Physiological Society ; it is the official publication organ of the Federation of European Physiological Societies . There are currently twelve issues a year. The journal publishes work in the field of physiology and related fields of science.

The impact factor in 2016 was 4.9. According to the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge , the journal with this impact factor ranks seventh out of 84 journals in the Physiology category.
