Ad Wammes
Ad Wammes (born 1953 in Vreeswijk ) is a Dutch composer.
He studied composition with Ton de Leeuw , Theo Loevendie and Klaas de Vries , piano with Edith Latiner-Grosz and electronic music with Ton Bruynèl . He made his first regular performances as the keyboardist of the symphonic rock band Finch.
His first compositions were stage music for theater pieces from 1979 to 2007 and pieces for five albums for Sesame Street from 1983 to 1985 . From 1986 to 2002 he wrote the serial music for the Dutch educational program TeleacNOT and for the broadcaster VPRO.
Since then he has increasingly composed concert music, especially for piano and organ, but also accordion and carillon. He achieved his artistic breakthrough with the organ piece Miroir , which has since been played in concerts around the world and often recorded on CD. Renowned commissioned works followed a. a. for a water fair (2008, Norway) and a contribution to the organ booklet project by William Whitehead (2012).
