Interim sword

Ad interim (Latin) means provisionally , provisionally or temporarily . With regard to edged weapons , it means that certain weapons had to or were allowed to be carried ad interim in certain situations (according to service regulations). This mainly concerned business events, with the exception of maneuvers or field service. The purpose of these regulations was not to wear out the often specially equipped interim weapons in normal service. The abbreviation “ai” is used in the protocol service of the Federal Republic of Germany.
