Adel Bagrou ,عدل بكرو, is a city in the administrative unit of Hodh Ech Chargui in the south of the West African state of Mauritania . It lies on the border with the neighboring state of Mali .

The population of the border town has increased significantly in recent years. While only 2,199 people lived in Adel Bagrou in 1977 and only 6,020 in 1988, in 2000 this was 36,007. In 2005 the population of the city was estimated at 58,429, making it the fourth largest city in Mauritania and the largest city of the administrative unit Hodh Ech Chargui before Boû Gâdoûm .
