Adelheid von Riedenburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adelheid von Riedenburg was Queen of Hungary in the 12th century.

Adelheid von Riedenburg was born as the daughter of Stefan II von Riedenburg , baron (later burgrave) of Regensburg.

In 1121 she married the Hungarian King Stephen II of the House of Arpaden, after his first marriage to Christiane von Capua remained childless.

However, even this marriage did not bring Stephan an heir to the throne and he died 10 years later and appointed his cousin Béla II as heir, who had previously been blinded by Stephen's father due to his opposition to the king .

There are no records about the further life of Queen Adelheid after the death of her husband.
