The Adler Werft GmbH was a shipyard in Bremen and belonged to Atlas-Werke AG .

history

The parent company of the later Adlerwerft was the repair shop of the Argo Reederei Richard Adler & Co. in the Europahafen. This moved to the Stephanikirchenweide in 1949 and developed there from a repair shop to a shipbuilding company. Adler-Werft GmbH, finally founded in 1952. was owned by the Adler family. The majority of the ships built by the shipyard, which in addition to seagoing ships up to around 8,000 GRT also built numerous Kümos , went to the Argo shipping company Richard Adler & Sons . The losses incurred while building two ferries for Denmark caused the owners to close the shipyard in 1963. The shipbuilding company was initially leased to AG Weser as a repair company south for ten years, but was given up again in 1964. The company was finally sold in 1973 to Ludwig Müller, the operations manager of the repair shop. The company, now named Stephani Werft Ludwig Müller GmbH & Co KG, dealt with sea and inland waterway repairs as well as with the construction of sections for other shipyards, mainly for Blohm & Voss , until its bankruptcy in 1977 . The reason for the bankruptcy of the company with 70 employees was the canceled conversion of a British kitchen.
