Battle Squadron Eagle Shield 30
The Eagle Shield of Kampfgeschwader 30 was a non-wearable award of the German Air Force during World War II .
Creation background
The information that led to the creation of this award is scarce. The award was created by the commodore of Kampfgeschwader 30 in 1939/1940. It was awarded: for special services to the eagle squadron . More detailed information about the award period or the number of awards is not known.
Description and material
The eagle shield is a high-angular plaque made of tin . Almost the entire area is filled by the unit's embossed squadron coat of arms, a plunging eagle with empty fangs. Above this is a beam in the center on which was embossed in capital letters: ADLERGESCHWADER . Its size was approximately: 95 mm × 150 mm. The plaque was usually presented in a black case with white velvet or silk inlay with an accompanying award certificate.
