Adobe Flash Catalyst

Adobe Flash Catalyst (code name Thermo ) is software from Adobe Inc. and is part of Adobe Creative Suite  5. It is designed as a design tool for creating user interfaces for rich Internet applications that are executed with Adobe Flash Player or Adobe AIR .

Adobe no longer wants to develop Flash Catalyst.

Functions

User interface designers can use Flash Catalyst to graphically create Adobe Flex applications. Developers can develop the application based on the design and in parallel with design changes.

  • Flash Catalyst can import and export Photoshop , Illustrator , and Fireworks files without losing, abandoning, or converting their information (e.g. layers).
  • It enables the design to be transformed into functional Flex User Interface Design components that can be used directly in the development projects.
  • Behaviors with different triggers (e.g., mouse clicks) can be added without writing any code.
  • User interfaces that represent dynamic data can be created without having access to the underlying data during creation.
  • Placeholders can represent functionality that is still to be implemented at development time.
  • Built on the same XML -based data format as - and is therefore compatible with - Flex Builder .
