Wojciech Weiss (born May 4, 1875 in Leorda , Bukowina , † December 7, 1950 in Krakow ) was a Polish painter and draftsman .

Life

Weiss studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow , Paris, Rome and Florence. From 1907 he was professor and rector of the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. He mainly painted landscapes , portraits and nudes . Artistically he was under the influence of Edvard Munch and Jacek Malczewski . Weiss was already recognized as an artist during his lifetime both in Poland and abroad. One of his students was Antoni Teslar .
