Adobe Voco (spelled "VoCo") is a sound recording editing program and may be part of Adobe Creative Cloud in the future . It enables changes to voice messages. In mass media it is also called the " Photoshop for language files".

product

Voco is so far a prototype of an audio editor that Adobe presented at the MAX in-house exhibition in San Diego in early November 2016. The software was introduced by Zeyu Jin from Princeton University . Adobe cooperated with the university for the development. It should come onto the market as part of the Creative Cloud or possibly a stand-alone product. The software can be trained with voice recordings. This is how the program learns the pronunciation of the person concerned. Then the respective voice can be imitated and recorded. It should be mentioned that words can now also be included in the text that did not appear in the training material. To adapt Voco to a voice, a 20-minute recording with any text is sufficient.

functionality

Adobe Voco is a Voice Conversion (VC) program. The software analyzes the original text and then breaks down the speaker's voice into individual phonemes . On this basis, in the next step any text input and thus other words can be synthesized with the voice of the original speaker .

criticism

Critics point out that mass market software for manipulating audio files also carries risks. Recordings of political speeches could be manipulated and statements distorted. Fraudsters could also try to outsmart biometric security systems. More and more banks and insurance companies are now offering customers the option of using their voice as password protection .
