from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adolf von Nassau-Dillenburg (* 1362 ; † June 12, 1420 ) was Count of Nassau-Dillenburg from 1416 to 1420 .

Life

Adolf was the son of Count Johann I Count von Nassau-Dillenburg from the House of Nassau and Margaretha von der Mark.

Since his father was already 77 years old when he died in 1416, Adolf was also 54 years old when he took over his inheritance, which is an advanced age for the time. In fact, he ruled himself only 4 years before he died and, since he left only one daughter, his younger brothers Johann II and Engelbert I became his successors.

Adolf married Jutta von Diez († 1397) in 1384 and Kunigunde von Isenburg-Limburg († 1403) in 1401 . Through his first marriage, he brought the county of Diez into his possession, which was confirmed by King Wenceslaus in a fiefdom in 1384 .

His daughter Jutta († 1424) married Gottfried VII von Eppstein-Münzenberg (1375-1437) in 1401 . She brought half of the County of Diez to the Eppstein family .
