Adolf von Bodelschwingh (* in the 15th century; † February 14, 1541 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Career and work

Adolf von Bodelschwingh came from the Rhenish - Westphalian noble family von Bodelschwingh , from which numerous well-known personalities emerged. He was the son of Ernst von Bodelschwingh (Drost zu Lünen) and his wife Sophia von der Horst zu Horst, studied in Cologne and became canon in Münster in 1508. His election as provost of St. Martini fell on August 14, 1510. He was bailiff at Lüdinghausen and in this capacity is often mentioned in the documents. On February 21, 1526 he increased the pledge amount for Lüdinghausen, which was due to the bishop, from 9,000 to 9,900 gold guilders . Adolf was captured when the Munster Anabaptists attacked Telgte. He was also a member of the cathedral calendar and donor of the cross altar under the rood screen in Münster Cathedral .

Adolf lived with his maid Anna ten Ulenbrock in a concubinage from which the son Ernst came.
