Adolphe Ferdinand Joseph van Soust de Borckenfeldt (born July 6, 1824 in Brussels ; † April 23, 1877 there ) was a Belgian writer and art historian.

Life

Soust de Borckenfeldt was subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior of his country and directed the Royal Museum of Paintings and Sculptures of Belgium . Through his work Soust de Borckenfeldt had contact with many contemporary artists; among other things he was very committed to the painter Antoine Joseph Wiertz .

Soust de Borckenfeldt was politically active in the Flemish movement and as such was also interested in a balance of political forces in Europe after the Franco-German War . He also addressed this in his fiction works, which he published under the pseudonym Paul Jane .

Adolphe van Soust de Borckenfeldt died in Brussels at the age of almost 53.
