Adrian Schmitter

Adrian Schmitter (born March 14, 1959 in Rothrist AG ) is a Swiss health manager and Chief Executive Officer at Kantonsspital Baden AG.

Career

Adrian Schmitter, who grew up on his parents' farm in Rothrist AG , completed an agricultural engineering degree in Zollikofen . He then studied law and economics at the Universities of Neuchâtel and Freiburg. He completed this course with a licentiate.

His professional career began at Suisseporcs , the umbrella organization for Swiss pig producers , which he was director from 1997 to 2001. From 2001 to 2010 he was Secretary General in the Health and Social Affairs Department of the Canton of Aargau. In this function he initiated the independence of Aargauer Spitaler and was involved in the reorganization of the cantonal health system. From 2010 to 2014 he was Director of Regionalspital Emmental AG, which runs an acute hospital in Burgdorf and Langnau. In December 2014 he was appointed CEO of Kantonsspital Baden AG.

Schmitter lives in Rothrist, is married and has three daughters.

Adrian Schmitter is a member of the Swiss People's Party. He has been a councilor in Rothrist since 2014. In the municipal elections of September 2017 in Rothrist, he achieved the best result of all candidates. In the municipal executive he is responsible for energy and water as well as health and culture. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the electricity and water utility EW Rothrist AG and the Luegenacher AG nursing home.
