The Advance Bank branch of Dresdner Bank Aktiengesellschaft was a credit institute based in Munich from May 1995 to July 2003 , which offered services as a direct bank in the Allianz SE group . The bank code was 702 300 00. The company was originally founded as a subsidiary of the Bayerische Vereinsbank and started business operations in 1996. The bank tried to win customers for online banking , advice was offered over the phone. In 1998 the institute was taken over by Dresdner Bank . In its eight year history, Advance Bank has not posted a profit in any year. Most recently it had 330,000 customers.

In the years 2000 and 2001, the bank was headed by Martin Blessing , who switched to the Board of Management of Commerzbank AG, Frankfurt am Main on November 1, 2001. In July 2003, the Advance Bank was dissolved as a stock corporation under the management of Thomas Pleines and legally integrated into Dresdner Bank, but it continued to exist as a brand for a few months. In the course of the final termination, the remaining 400 employees were terminated for operational reasons and the customer was offered the option to open an account with Dresdner Bank under the same conditions. All current accounts were closed on October 31, 2003 and - due to the weekend in between - transferred to new accounts at Dresdner Bank on November 3, 2003.
