Thomas Pleines

Thomas Pleines (born September 2, 1955 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German lawyer and manager. Since 2011 he has been President of the Presidential Council of the DEKRA auditing company and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DEKRA SE.

Life

Thomas Pleines studied and completed his law studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and then worked as a lawyer in a law firm in Sydney , Australia . After returning to Germany, he was admitted to the German bar on January 31, 1983 and was a lawyer and later a partner in a Frankfurt law firm from 1980 to 1984 with a focus on commercial , criminal and family law .

After working as a lawyer, he moved to Allianz Baden-Württemberg in 1984 , where he held various specialist and management functions until 1996. Since 1992 he has been active in management positions. In 1997, as branch manager of the Allianz branch in Baden-Württemberg, he took over the chairmanship of the management of this state agency. From 2010 to 2003 he was chairman of the board of the former direct bank Advance Bank Holding AG, which was liquidated under his leadership and incorporated into Dresdner Bank . Between 2003 and 2005 he was CEO and delegate of the Board of Directors of Allianz Suisse and from 2006 to 2010 a member of the board of the holding company Allianz Deutschland AG and chairman of the board of Allianz Versicherungs-AG in Munich .

Since May 3, 2011, Pleines has been chairman of the DEKRA auditing company with headquarters in Stuttgart and successor to Gerhard Zeidler . He has been on the Supervisory Board of DEKRA SE since 2005 and on the Presidential Council of DEKRA eV since 2009.
