Aello

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aello ( Greek  Ἀελλώ , bride of the wind ) is a harpy of Greek mythology :

As the daughter of Thaumas and Elektra , Aello was one of the harpies sent by the gods to bring about peace - even by force - and to carry out punishments for crimes. They were portrayed as winged beauties, and later as ugly old women with sharp claws who abducted people into the underworld to torture them there.
