Thaumas
Thaumas ( ancient Greek Θαύμας ) is a sea god in Greek mythology . He is the son of Pontus and Gaia and, through the Ocean's daughter Elektra, father of the harpies and the iris . According to the late antique tradition, Thaumas is also the father of the Indian river god Hydaspes.
The name Thaumas was already associated with the word θαῦμα "miracle" in ancient times . This interpretation is rejected by the research that compares Thaumas with the mythical namesake of the Thessalian city Thaumakos .
