Aerobics (throwing toys)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An aerobia

An aerobics is a piece of sports and recreational equipment that is thrown in a manner similar to that of a frisbee . However, the aerobia is ring-shaped and not disc-shaped. Another distinguishing feature of the Frisbee is its lower mass and more stable flight. The Aerobie can be bent slightly to optimize flight behavior. Due to its very low air resistance and stable flight behavior, it can be thrown much further than a Frisbee. The ring is only about 3 mm thick.

The aerobics was invented by Alan Adler in 1984 . It has a core made of polycarbonate with soft edges made of rubber on the outside and inside. The rubber edge on the outside is designed aerodynamically in a special way and is essentially responsible for the flight characteristics of the Aerobie.

On July 14, 2003, Erin Hemmings in Fort Funston set a world record for objects thrown by human hands with the aerobics at a distance of 406.30 m. The sports equipment was in the air for 30 seconds (unofficial value) and was the first object that was thrown further than a quarter mile (approx. 402.30 m). This world record was surpassed in 2005 with a boomerang throw.
