Aeroquetzal was a Guatemalan airline with headquarters in Guatemala City , which existed from 1987 to 1992.

history

Aeroquetzal was founded in 1987. The first aircraft to be bought was a 34-year-old Convair CV-580 , which had previously been in service with North Central Airlines (which later became Republic Airlines ).

After the Convair CV-580 was handed over in the spring of 1990, a Douglas DC-9-15 was leased from United Aviation Services Leasing (UAS) in April 1990 .

In autumn 1991, Aeroquetzal rented an Airbus A320 from LACSA ( Costa Rica ) for only three weeks .

In April 1992, Aeroquetzal ceased operations due to financial problems.

Destinations

In April 1990, the company offered only eleven weekly flights from Guatemala City to Flores and two to Cancun (Mexico) with the rented DC-9 . Aeroquetzal ran a scheduled service to Los Angeles for just one month . The route to Cancun also turned out to be deficient. Otherwise regional routes were offered, the most important of which was the 270 kilometer route to Flores.

fleet

Aeroquetzal only used a total of three aircraft during its operating time:
