Afghan Institute of Learning

Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) is a non-governmental organization of Afghan women, which was co-founded by Sakena Yacoobi in 1995 and aims to promote and support the education and medical care of Afghan women and girls in rural and poor regions. To date, the organization has trained more than 17,000 teachers and as a result almost 400,000 Afghan women and children have received an education.

AIL is the Zonta International project and is supported by Ashoka . AIL was awarded the Gruber Prize for Women's Rights in 2004. In 2015, Yacoobi received the WISE Prize for Education for her work with the AIL .
