Afro-Canadians

As Black Canadians (English-amerik.. African Canadian or Black Canadian ), all residents of Canada indicated that at least partially of black African descent. The majority of black Canadians are descendants of slaves who fled the US in the 19th century . Other members of this minority immigrated from the Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Africa in the 20th century . In 2006, 2.5% of all Canadians were black (783,795 people). About 78% of black people live in the cities of Toronto , Montreal , Ottawa , Vancouver, and Halifax .
