Agenda for Zambia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Agenda for Zambia (abbreviation AZ) is a royalist political party in Zambia .

It is also a spin-off from the Movement for Multiparty Democracy .

influence

The chairman of the AZ has been Prince Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika (born February 4, 1948), son of Lewanika II. King of Barotseland and businessman by profession. He was one of the founders of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy. His sister Inonge Mbikusita-Lewanika (born July 10, 1943) has been the Zambian ambassador to the USA since 2003 . The AZ is assigned to the old Zambian elite. In this case, however, the Barotseland's aspirations for autonomy play a role, which leads the AZ to look for a role as a coalition partner that it cannot currently play due to a lack of mandates in the National Assembly of Zambia . Even in the Western Province, their political backing is not enough, which is why all royal events in Barotseland, contrary to their claims, make them a popular tradition or tourist attraction.
