Agenesis

The term agenesis ( synonyms : agenesia , agenesis ) is used in medicine and veterinary medicine to describe the complete absence of an organ due to a (genetic) non-disposition.

This is a form of inhibition malformation , the time of development of which is before that of aplasia .

Examples are the lack of anchors in the corpus callosum ( corpus callosum agenesis ), the appendix , the gall bladder , liver , spleen , thyroid , epididymis and parathyroid glands .
