Agent Orange is the name of a punk band that formed in 1979 in Fullerton, Orange County , California . The band combines hardcore and surf influences . She was best known for her debut EP Bloodstains and her debut album Living in Darkness. The only remaining founding member is singer and guitarist Mike Palm.

Band history

Mike Palm, Scott Miller and Steve Soto were influenced by the developing punk and hardcore scene in the late 1970s. You heard about Dick Dale , the Ramones , the Sex Pistols, and The Ventures . Their own music, which they published for the first time on the EP Bloodstains , combined the melodic affinity of surf music with the speed and aggressiveness of the developing hardcore. They quickly established themselves in the lively Californian scene at the time and their first LP followed in 1981. Living in Darkness contained a more cleanly produced version of Bloodstains, original songs such as the later surf punk classics Everything Turns Gray and Too Young To Die and a number of standards and cover versions. By 1986 the band was able to expand its audience and benefited from the success of the entire scene.

After that, the band disappeared from the scene for a few years until they returned in 1991 with the live album Real Live Sound . Mike Palm was the only band member to stay constant, while the other band members changed regularly. Agent Orange existed as a live band at the time, playing a mixture of covers and the back catalog at concerts. After the band actually disbanded in the late 1980s, they reunited in 1996, which led to a world tour and the release of a new album. Virtually Indestructible continued the musical line of the older releases. Agent Orange continues to exist mainly as a live band, the releases from 2000, 2003 and 2004 mainly consist of older recordings.

style

The band plays straight punk with audible influences from heavy metal and surf rock . The band pioneered this music from the Californian environment. In later albums the band became more melodic and generally displayed a more positive attitude.
