Aglibol ( Chariot of Baal ) is the name of a Semitic god who was especially worshiped in Palmyra together with Malakbel . Both are sometimes referred to as the holy brothers , with Aglibol ranked above Malakbel.

Both deities had a sanctuary in the city called the sacred garden . The temple could not be located so far, but is known from a representation. They are also usually mentioned together in dedicatory inscriptions. However, the different spelling of the name component Baal ( bol and bel ) makes it probable that both deities were initially independent and were only connected over time. This may have something to do with the cycle of nature, as the name of their sanctuary suggests. In any case, they were deities of vegetation and animals. Aglibol also appears as a lunar deity and together with Bçl they often formed a triad.
