Agnieszka "Aga" Rylik (born January 21, 1974 ) is a Polish boxer .

life and career

She started training for kickboxing at the age of 15. It took less than a year for her to finish second in the Senior European Championships, and at the age of 17, she became a world champion. Since then she has reached the European Championship podium 3 times including a victory in the final over the Russian Zulfia Koutdoussova. Rylik has been Poland's best female kickboxer three times. On March 4th, 2000 in Toruń, Poland, she won her debut as a professional boxer with a TKO in the fourth round over Sylvia Porteleki from Hungary. On April 8, 2000 in the Nowa Halle Sportowa Gdańsk Rylik won with a simple knockout (KO) in the first round against Piroska Beki from Hungary, which lost 1-2. On June 24, 2000 in Toruń Agnieszka won the WIBF welterweight title against Samantha Rein from Germany with a technical knockout in the fourth round. Rylik was faster and stronger than Rein. Rein lost 0-3-1.

In October 2000 in Kołobrzeg 2500 people saw how Agnieszka won the junior world welterweight championship title with a knockout in the fourth round over the former world champion Diana Dutra from Canada in her hometown. On February 17, 2001 in Kołobrzeg, Poland, Agnieszka successfully defended the WIBF Junior World Welterweight Championship against Snodene Blakeney from Austin (Texas). According to reporter Krzystof Zbarski, Blakeney showed unusual perseverance. On March 17, 2001 in the FTC Handball Arena in Budapest, Rylik increased her record to 6-0 (5 KOs), with a KO in the second round against Sanja Stunja from Croatia in a fight that was for nothing and the one for six rounds was scheduled.

Rylik defended the WIBF junior welterweight title in Kołobrzeg, Poland on June 9, 2001 with a knockout in the third round against Ann Haik from Pearl River, Louisiana. Haik lost before in the lightweight or flyweight to Brenda Vickers, Melinda Robinson, Mia St John, Snodene Blakeney and Vicki Woods. On October 13, 2001 in Nepligeti Sportcsarnok in Budapest Rylik increased her record to 8-0 (7 KOs) with a technical KO in the fifth round against Tanja Rotkvik from Germany. On October 27th in Kołobrzeg, Rylik won the WIBF junior welterweight title again and increased to 9-0 (8 KOs) with a technical KO against Kada Omerovic from Bosnia-Herzegovina, who lost 7-2-1 (3 KOs). Omerovic did not get past the fourth round in a fight that was scheduled for 10 rounds. On December 14, 2001 in Budapest, Hungary, Agnieszka Rylik won with a knockout in the third round against Silvia Leon from Spain. Rylik was aggressive from the start and fought with both hands. Leon was able to turn away. The fight ended before the fourth round as Silvia Leon's nose was apparently broken. On January 22, 2002 in Gdynia, Poland, Rylik defeated British debutante Tracy Wilcox with a TKO in the fifth round in a no-title fight. With the win, Rylik increased her record to 11-0 (10 KOs). On May 24, 2002, Agnieszka Rylik won in the Elektromos Sportcsarnok in Budapest, Hungary with a knockout in the third round against Ragan Pudwill from Mandan, North Dakota, who lost 3-8-0 (0 KOs). On October 22nd, 2002 in Sopot, Poland, Agnieszka won a six-round match against Borislava Goranova from Sofia, Bulgaria. Rylik versus Byrd: On March 22, 2003 at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas , former IFBA featherweight world champion Tracy Byrd from Flint, Michigan beat Agnieszka. This was Rylik's first fight outside of Europe. Crucial was Byrd's vast experience and strength, and the fact that Rylik fought far from home.

On November 22, 2003, Rylik returned to the ring at King's Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland and won a six-round match against Borislava Goranova from Sofia, Bulgaria. Only a handful of fans saw the fight as the stands gradually filled up. On April 10, 2004, Rylik won against Eliza Olson from the USA in the MEN arena in Manchester, England in the fight for the WIBF and WIBO welterweight titles.

On December 18, Agnieszka Rylik won a clear 10-round fight against Iva Weston from Barrackpore, North Trinidad at the Bujtosi Sport and Leisure Center in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, defending her WIBF welterweight title. There were no knockdowns. Trinidad and Tobago's international referee Buxo Potts, who directed the fight, said there was a return clause in the contract and Rylik would have to give Weston a re-match in Port of Spain in six months. Weston got $ 5,000 for the fight but lost 9-2-0 (1 KO). On June 11, 2005 at Madison Square Garden , New York City, Agnieszka won a straight six round bout against Tawnyah Freeman of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
