Ahmad al-Jarba ( Arabic أحمد العاصي الجربا, DMG Aḥmad al-ʿĀṣī al-Ǧarbā ; Born October 25, 1969 in Qamishli , al-Hasakah Governorate ) is a Syrian politician, lawyer, businessman and tribal leader. From July 6, 2013 to July 12, 2014, he was President of the opposition National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces (Syrian National Coalition).

Al-Jarba is Sunni and belongs to the Shammar tribe. He holds a Bachelor of Law from Beirut Arab University . He is distantly related to one of the many wives of the Saudi King Abdullah and has close ties with Saudi Arabia .

In 1996 he was imprisoned for two years for his activities against the government of Hafiz al-Assad . In March 2011, the secret service arrested him again and interrogated him.

Al-Dscharba is the as liberal and secular applicable Democratic block of Michel Kilo close of 2013, the National Coalition joined. At a meeting of the national coalition in Istanbul in the second ballot, he narrowly prevailed against the Qatar- supported businessman Moustapha Sabbagh, who is close to the Muslim Brotherhood . Al-Jarba received 55 votes, Moustapha Sabbagh 52. He was re-elected on January 5, 2014 and prevailed against Riyadh Farid Hejab . Jarba's successor is Hadi al-Bahra .
