Ahmed al-Kubaisi

Ahmed al-Kubaisi ( Arabic أحمد الكبيسي, DMG Aḥmad al-Kubaisī ; * 1934 in al-Anbar , Iraq ) is a leading Sunni scholar and preacher. He is the chairman of the United Iraqi Patriotic Movement . He is the founder of the Association of Muslim Clergymen (Ulema Organization), Iraq.

He is Head of Sharia Studies at Baghdad University .

In 2009 he was listed on the list of 500 most influential Muslims by Georgetown University's Prince al-Walid-bin-Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center of Jordan.

In Iraq he advocated the institution of an Islamic state. His sermons from the state mosque of Abu Dhabi will be broadcast worldwide.

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).
