Ahmet İyidirli

Ahmet İyidirli (born February 4, 1956 in Eskişehir , Turkey ) is a German economist and politician of the SPD .

Ahmet İyidirli was born on February 4, 1956 in Eskişehir, where he also began his school career. He completed his high school in the Turkish capital Ankara , where he graduated from high school in 1974. On January 1st of the following year he moved to Germany and in May to Berlin. In the same year he also joined the "Progressive People's Unit of Turkey in Berlin / Turkish Social Democrats" (HDB). He was involved in the SPD even before joining in 1980. From 1991 to 1997 and from 1999 he was or is federal chairman of the Federation of People's Associations of Turkish Social Democrats in Europe (HDF). He is also a board member of the migrant project Café Orya .

İyidirli ran for the 16th general election on September 18, 2005 in the constituency of Berlin-Friedrichshain - Kreuzberg - Prenzlauer Berg Ost . There he ran against Hans-Christian Ströbele and the Linkspartei.PDS mayor of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, Cornelia Reinauer . As in the previous federal election, Ströbele won the direct mandate for the Greens .

Ahmet İyidirli, an economist by profession, is divorced and has a daughter.
