life and career
Ahney Her, who comes from the Southeast Asian ethnic group of the Hmong , was born in 1992 in Lansing, Michigan, and grew up there. She attended JW Sexton High School and a local talent school for three years. In 2008, the then 16-year-old was given the lead female role of Sue Lor through director and leading actor Clint Eastwood , who was looking for Hmong actors for his internationally successful film drama Gran Torino .
