The Ahrens AR 124 is a glider manufactured by the American manufacturer Ahrens Aircraft Corporation .

history

Development work on the AR 124 began in 1974. The prototype flew that same year. Three prototypes were built, the third should correspond to the production version. Although the development work was very advanced - the third prototype flew in 1975 - and the first models were planned to be delivered from 1979 onwards, work was discontinued in favor of the Ahrens AR 404 .

construction

The AR 124 was a single-seat glider that consisted of an aluminum frame with flush riveted aluminum planking. The model was a cantilevered shoulder- wing aircraft , had an elliptical fuselage cross-section, a T-shaped tail unit, and a one-piece canopy. The machine had a tandem undercarriage, with one wheel under the fuselage and one at the stern.
