Buildings and homesteads

Ave Maria Chapel

On the outskirts of Aichhalden, on the edge of the forest and near the connecting road, there is a miniature chapel in praise of the Blessed Virgin Mary .

Hole 8

The farmhouse with the address "Loch 8" was built in 1824 in the style of a typical Black Forest house. The building belongs to the municipality of Aichhalden. This had no use for the house in the 1970s and wanted to "leave it warm" as part of a fire brigade exercise with the THW and fire brigade. The Evangelical Church Community Schramberg rented the house as a youth home. The then very active Christian scouts from the VCP tribe Königsbote from Schramberg renovated the house. It was used by youth groups from all over the Black Forest, international meeting camps and as a scout home for the VCP. The VCP Schramberg and other tribes met there all year round for hut weekends and work assignments. After the youth work of the evangelical parish had largely fallen asleep and the parish council at the time saw no need in the operation of the house for the “preaching of the word of God”, the lease with the community was terminated on March 31, 2015. The Aichhalder municipal council then decided unanimously to continue using the holiday home sensibly and not to sell it. The community rents the house to TTC Aichhalden , which now uses it as a club house. The association renovated the building and the outdoor area. He also rents it out to other clubs, youth groups, school groups and private individuals.

Aichhalden sewage treatment plant

The municipality's sewage treatment plant is located in the upper third of the Aichhalder Loch, in hole 20. The plant was built in the 1970s and modernized in the 2010s.

Aichhalder Mill

Halfway from Aichhalden into the valley, the Aichhalder Mühle is located on the Aichhalder Grundbach. Today a restaurant is housed in the buildings. A museum shows the history of the mill. There is no written record of when a mill has existed in Aichhalder Loch. The first documents come from the early Napoleonic period when the municipality of Aichhalden wanted to buy the mill for their use and bought an exemption from the grinding ban from the responsible counts in order to then have their own grinding rights. In the chronicle of the mill, no owner as miller is registered by name for the years 1792 to 1842, in which the mill was owned by the municipality. In 1842 the community of Aichhalden sold the mill and its grinding rights to an Eschle family. The purchase price for the mill was 10,100 guilders. After that, the mill changed hands several times.
