The Aiguille d'Etretat is a rock needle in front of the Alabaster Coast in Normandy in France .

It stands in the English Channel about 50 meters west of the famous rock formation Porte d'Aval and belongs to the municipality of Étretat . Its height is given as 42 meters, with other information also mentioning 51 meters. The maximum diameter is about 30 meters. The rock needle consists of a white, upwardly tapering chalk cliff . The rock is criss-crossed horizontally with brown-black layers of flint .

Despite its filigree appearance and exposed location, the Aiguille d'Etretat has presented itself in its current form for a long time. There are centuries-old engravings on it.

The picturesque rock needle was a frequent motif of painters, so the aiguille can also be seen in paintings by Claude Monet .
