The Aischgründer Carp Museum was opened on May 22nd, 2008 in the old castle of Neustadt an der Aisch .

Objects

It is located in the northern part of the listed old town, in the rooms of the former margravial castle, which also houses the margravial museum and children's play worlds.

The Aischgründer Carp Museum describes the more than 1250-year history of the unique cultural landscape of the middle Aischgrund . The water-rich area bordering the southern edge of the Steigerwald became the center of pond management , where today well over 5,000 ponds with a total area of ​​around 3,500 hectares are used to breed a special species of carp , the Aischgründer Spiegelkarpfens .

Using numerous objects and multimedia stations, the history of pond management, the work of pond owners, flora and fauna around the pond, carp farming and ecology are illuminated. There is also a separate department that is entirely dedicated to culinary enjoyment, and carp also play a role not only in the Aischgrund in customs and art.

The Aischgründer Carp Museum is part of the museums in the Old Castle. The Margrave Museum documents the life and work of the Hohenzollern margraves in the region and offers a vivid journey through the city's history.
